Lee will be joining esteemed colleagues Dr. Mason Bresett (Chief Science Advisor) & Dr. Rob Silver (Chief Veterinary Officer) to facilitate our continuing commitment to excellence in education, research, and product development.
Let's face it- the mushroom supplement industry can sometimes feel like the Wild West. So many options! How to choose? With so much excitement and “hype” about mushrooms, this can sometimes lead to confusion about what to look for in a quality mushroom supplement. Lee is a seasoned pro at breaking down truth versus fiction when it comes to the world of functional mushrooms and medicinal plants.
Lee Carroll is a natural at interpreting information from the cutting edge and making it accessible and relevant to you, the consumer. Lee will be producing education about applications of mushrooms to support health, and guiding us through the many mushroom options in the marketplace. This will help you make educated choices for yourselves and your families. Lee is also a great cook, and will surely be sharing some of his culinary mushroom creations.
Our friend MycoJames nailed it when he called Lee “ the prince of polysaccharides, a phytomolecular wizard, master of mycelium, and our dear friend of the fungi.” We can’t wait to work with him!
Lee had the good fortune to work together with one of the world’s most influential herbalists, Professor Kerry Bone, founder of MediHerb between 1990 and 2020. The early days at MediHerb were like an herbal apprenticeship that blossomed into a passion for natural medicine and would become his life’s work!
Lee was MediHerb’s first production manager and for 11 years was involved in the operational side of the business at the level of senior management. From 2001 to 2008 Lee lived in the U.S. with his family and helped establish and manage MediHerb USA. Working from the office of the distributor, Standard Process Inc., Lee was introduced to whole food nutrition and began in his role as an herbal educator.
In 2013 Lee graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Western herbal medicine and was awarded the academic medal of excellence as the top student in the graduating year. Lee started in clinical practice this same year.
From 2009 to 2020 Lee traveled regularly to the U.S. teaching and lecturing to thousands of practitioners across the country. He also provided education services to MediHerb and shared the stage with Professor Kerry Bone on many occasions.
In 2020 Lee was ‘Herbalist in Residence’ at Aduco, a small supplement company based in Northern California. While at Aduco Lee developed a range of practitioner-only functional mushroom products (3rd Planet) which ignited his interest in the field.
In 2021 Lee began formulating the concept of the Herba Meditari online school, and in 2023 launched his course Mastering Medicinal Mushrooms.
Lee lives with his wife in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, and has two young adult children and a pup Felix.
